The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a $182 billion tax cut bill that would give married couples filing jointly double the standard deduction given to single filers. The bill would expand the income bracket subject to the the lowest, 15%, tax rate and increase the earned income tax credit for low-income married couples. Good news for married couples, no children and both as wage earners.

If you plan to mail your own tax return in, IRS has announced new zip codes to be used on handwritten envelopes. Therefore, if you have a refund due you this year, the address is:

Internal Revenue Service
Ogden, Utah 84201-0102

If you have to pay Uncle Sam, the address is:

Internal Revenue Service
Ogden, Utah 84201-0002

Use of the four digit zip codes will allow the IRS to sort the returns more efficiently thus processing them faster.
